Tutoring:
Book Huggers Tutoring works with students who have struggles with reading and writing. A formal diagnosis of dyslexia is not required to get services. Students meet with the tutor two times a week, either in-person, or virtually.
Each student will be assessed in their reading, writing, spelling and phonemic awareness. Each student will get a report that outlines their individual needs and prescriptive lesson plans based on their strengths and weaknesses. Students will be reassessed every 4-6 months to check progress.
Orton-Gillingham lessons are multi-sensory, cumulative, explicit and tailored for specific student's needs. Each lesson consists of handwriting practice (if needed), phonemic awareness, introduction to new sounds and phonograms or spelling rules, writing and reading controlled text, comprehension, fluency and any other instruction the student may need.
